India Freewrite
When i think about India i think about cows. Not completely sure why. Oh and then one time my teacher showed my class of an Indian monk who burned himself alive in the middle of a street for protest. I also know that it is one of the most dense populations of people there can be. Oh and the little gem that they put on their forehead, Is that to let God into their being? Not completely sure on that. I know that they have some of the most beautiful temples and that they use meditation to relax and focus themselves. At the temples everyone has to do something, some sort of job. Visitors come and check in and they are assigned a job such as cleaning the floor or to work in the kitchen or something to keep the temple up and ruining. And then there are these silent caves where people go and some say they see the blue light of god when they go and meditate there.

Misconceptions About Islam
One of the misconceptions that I found surprising is that they find no man is better then any other man. Such as non Arab verses an Arab or a white man verses a black man. How were they able to grasp that concept so early when it took Christan's so long to make that understanding.
I was also surprised of the reasoning for why women are equal. It is the man's job to take care and provide for the family while it is the woman's job to respect and obey the man. She also is more superior because she can bond with the children more. And, they wear the veils to protect themselves against men's desires, if they was not to wear they veil then it would seem they are trying to show themselves off.

Middle east back post
http://traveldocs.com/iq/culture.htm In Ancient Iraq they didn't have an all controlling king like they other surrounding countries. Such as Egypt has a pharaoh who was looked at as a living god. The civilization realized that their king was every bit responsible and reactive to his actions. They were among the first who were able to be considered an advanced civilization. They were early to develop the plow and wheel. So what went wrong? why are they behind now? I do know that they have ways to make our technologies work in ways that my first hand source didn't really understand. http://img.slate.com/features/pdf/iraqsmartcard.pdf (Very big file and takes a while to load). There is a pamphlet that all military people must receive before going to Iraq. It tells them of the ways not to insult the people there and to be respectful. It also helps them understand all of the differences that they may need help with. The pamphlet also gives words that the soldiers might need to say such as stop or where. This all fits right in a pocket that is easy to reach.
Middle East
The middle east.... welll I don't really know that much about it. But, when I start to think of it the thought of our "War on Terror" comes to me and then the movie Hildalgo. Just because it has that really long great race. blink blink blink went my computer screan. and and and and and and and and and and and and and and The other day in my government class Thor Watts brother came in and he was in Iraq helping the people there start a policing station. Thats all his job is. He has a translator that helps him teach the people as young as 17 start to learn how to protect their socity. Then he talked about the women there and that they have to wear those black robes and that they cant talk to anyone. If they even acknowldge a stranger they are looked apon as a whore and then become worthless. That would be a hard posistion to live in for sure. I imagin that they make the best of what they can though because there is nothing else they really can do. Another thing i though was weird was that they cant show the bottem of their shoes to anyone otherwise it is looked at as in insult. If i followed that i'm not sure how many times a day i have been insulted.... or even insult myself.
The thing i think i might be suprised to learn about the Middle East is more about their culture and how very different it is from ours. And, perhaps some of the food and what they look at as unsanitary and what is clean. Maybe anything about the kids who go to school there.

A Moment in my life
What is a moment that set my life down the path that is today I may ask myself. This could be such a hard question, because sometimes it is not noticed that a moment has changed our lives for we have not experienced it. One that I know has effected me is that once when I first met Debbie. She has been a large help in my life. I was very depressed and my family saw this. So when I was still fairly young when they put me into the Big Brother Big Sister program, and Debbie was to be my big sister. I was really nervous at first. I knew she was suppose to be nice and was suppose to be my friend. But, I never dreamed I would be able to talk to her as easily as I can today. She never judged me from the moment I met her. I may not be able to see her as much now then I could have in the 3rd grade, but even now I love the comfort of knowing that she is just a phone call away if I need someone to talk to at what ever time of day.
One of the momets I loved most with her is just staying the night and staying up and watching movies. There was one time she spent the time to help me understand how the mind works and why people judge others. It helped me understand and forgive what people do. I used to be extreamly judgemental and I would hurt people, so they would hurt me back. But, after that one night with Debbie I have had alot fewer problems with that.

Why did Okonkwo kill himself?
Okonkwo was a man of acction, and could not stand to not do anything about the missionaries coming and taking everything he had ever known away from him. He has the understanding that he had to protect his family and everything that he built for himself. He differed from his father who brought disgrace to Okonkwo. Then he had the accident of killing a man and is banished for 7 years, and that seperated him from his clan majorly. When he finally comes back his once proud and strong clan has gone weak against the control of the missionaries.
Being seperated from his clan ment that he did not understand how much his clan feared war with the white men. Okonkwo's spirit was always ready to fight for what he believed but no one would support him. Finally at the meeting, when Okonkwo killed the messenger but not the second one, he knew everything was over and that he had no chance of starting and wining a fight with the white men. He was already seperated from his clan. He felt he had no other option of release from the power of the white men so he hung him self.

African History
I did a very small amount of research on the country Nigeria. I recognized the country to be one in Africa, but that is about all I knew; that is why I looked it up specifically. It is one 3rd larger then Texas and has swamp and forests. The first people that tamed the lands were the Nok people who were present in 500 BC until about 200 AD. One other fact is that British explorers came in 1806 1830 and that they did not gain Independence till 1960. I also look up a few pictures to culture and just for me to understand everything from pictures would be impossible. I personally would love to travel and expirence how the locals of Nigeria live. I'm sure that there are difficulties for them, I feel like life is to easy for us here in the USA that it seems so hard. Basically, I feel that the USA is full of a bunch of drama queens looking for attention. I am sure not everyone is like that, but if we all had to live someplace that we did not have all that we have, then maybe we wouldn't take advantage of what we have so much. What kind of food do they eat, is it nutritional or just avalible? Do families live with one another at all times?
